This past spring, Justin presented research at The Voice Foundation’s 51st Annual Symposium, Athens Institute for Education & Research – 13th Annual International Conference on Visual and Performing Arts, and The Paris Conference on Arts & Humanities. His accepted papers included, “Early Investigation of Reported COVID-19 Symptoms in Singers,” “Assessing the Impact of Vocal Pedagogy Outreach Activities on Geographically, Culturally, and Economically Disadvantaged Communities,” and “Collaboration in Asynchronous Learning Networks: An Investigation of Effective Pedagogical Practices in the Musical Ensemble Setting,” respectively.

Based on the early life of Pablo Picasso and introduced to the theater industry as a fully orchestrated concept album in the spirit of hit Broadway musicals like Hadestown and Jekyll and Hyde with performers from Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies, an industry listening party was held for PABLO on May 16, 2022 at The Laurie Beechman Theatre in Manhattan. Justin portrayed the role of Luc du Lac opposite Bronson Norris Murphy in the title role. The album is now available on all streaming platforms.

For the first time in history, the NYU Pop/Rock Ensemble took home two DownBeat Awards during the 45th Annual Downbeat Student Music Awards. The group earned awards for Outstanding Blues/Pop/Rock Group and Outstanding Blues/Pop/Rock Soloist. Founded by Justin 2019, the NYU Pop/Rock Ensemble has quickly earned recognition as one of the leading contemporary collegiate ensembles in the nation.

Justin’s article, “Regulating Vocal Load in High Impact Production, is featured in the May/June 2022 Issue of the Journal of Singing. His research addresses topics of efficiency, sustainability, counterbalance, and conditioning in popular styles.

Last year, Yamaha launched the “40 Under 40” music education advocacy program to celebrate and recognize outstanding music educators who are making a difference by growing and strengthening their music programs. Now, Yamaha celebrates the 2022 group of remarkable educators who triumphed before and during the pandemic to keep their programs thriving. Moniz was recognized for his work as Associate Director of Vocal Performance and Coordinator of Vocal Pedagogy at NYU Steinhardt.

During the spring semester, Moniz has been invited to present masterclasses, lectures, and workshops to the vocal performance and pedagogy programs at The Royal Conservatory of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Moniz recently joined the company of Seidman & Crawford’s musical Fifth Avenue in the role of Donald. The project was supervised by the team at Dubway Studios and is slated for release in late-2021.

Big Island Music Magazine recently praised Moniz for his performance in Hawaii Performing Arts Festival’s presentation of Along the Way, celebrating the release of his debut album of the same name.

Justin recently released his solo debut album, Along the Way. The project was facilitated by the team at NYC’s renowned Dubway Studios and features selections by Jason Robert Brown, Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin, Alan Menken, and many others. The full album is now available on all digital streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, iHeart Radio, and many others.

On Friday, 2/12 at 8pm, Justin will premiere the second music video single from his new album, Along the Way. The video marks the second single release. The album will be released on March 15 and available for preorder on March 1.

Moniz recently premiered a mini-documentary surrounding the creation of his new album, Along the Way. The video previews the album’s upcoming release and highlights the inspiration for the project. Two music video singles will be released on January 29 and February 12, prior to the release of the full album this March.

Moniz will serve as Supporting Faculty Artist-in-Residence for the Artist Diploma program at William Jewell College in March 2021. He joins a roster of guest faculty for the 2020/21 academic year including: Greg Carpenter, Garrett Bruce, Eric Einhorn, Brad Trexell, Carol Anderson, Laurie Rogers, Gabriel Preisser, and Ana De Archuleta. The program is supervised by Grammy Award-winning baritone, Daniel Belcher.

Moniz was recently recognized as both a well-known classical voice alumni (Frost School of Music, University of Miami) and an outstanding voice faculty member (NYU Steinhardt) on Inside Music Schools’ list of The Top 32 Classical, Jazz & Contemporary Voice Programs in the U.S for 2020. He joins the company of Sandra Lopez, Elizabeth Caballero, Sheri Sanders, and more.

Cleveland Opera Theatre’s Executive Artistic Director Scott Skiba recently met with Justin to discuss the process of bringing a concept from the page to the stage, specifically in regards to his work with Hawaii Performing Arts Festival’s 2020 Virtual Festival.

During the spring semester, Moniz has been invited to present masterclasses, lectures, and workshops to the vocal pedagogy programs at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee and New England Conservatory, as well as the vocal performance programs at Boston University and University of Miami.

Moniz recently presented an online vocal masterclass for CS Music. Classical Singer magazine began in 1988 as The New York Opera Newsletter. Interest in the newsletter grew rapidly and the demand for more information triggered the transformation into Classical Singer magazine. CS Music now offers renowned programs and competitions for singers of all levels nationwide.

Moniz was recently selected as the BOSS 2020 Featured Educator! During the upcoming festival, he will present three workshops including the festival’s capstone class. “Pop/Rock and Drop It” will explore efficient and sustainable chest-dominant (belt) production in contemporary popular styles.
